A DJI battery that is not charging can be a battery problem, a charger issue, a connection issue, or a sign that the aircraft and power system have a deeper fault. It is worth being methodical before assuming the battery is simply dead.
Problem explanation
You may see no charge lights, unusual blinking, failure to power the aircraft, or charging that starts and stops unexpectedly. In some cases the battery appears healthy until it is inserted into the drone, where the problem becomes more obvious.
Common causes
- battery deeply discharged after long storage
- charger or cable issue
- damaged terminals or contamination
- swollen, overheated, or ageing battery pack
- power-path issue in the aircraft after impact
Simple checks you can try
- test with another known-good charger or cable
- inspect terminals for dirt, damage, or signs of heat
- compare with another battery if you have one
- think about whether the battery problem started after storage, a crash, or transport damage
When repair is required
Repair or assessment is usually required when multiple batteries behave strangely with the same aircraft, the battery problem followed a crash, or the charging issue appears linked to the drone rather than the battery alone.
Need a proper assessment?
If the charging problem may involve the aircraft, use our mail-in drone repair page to arrange an Australia-wide inspection at the Ballarat workshop.
