When a DJI drone is not connecting, the issue may be with the aircraft, the controller, the battery state, or a fault that started after a crash or failed update. The first goal is to separate a pairing or setup problem from a genuine hardware issue.
Problem explanation
Connection issues can look like a controller that will not link, an app that cannot see the aircraft, repeated binding failure, or an aircraft that starts but never completes the usual communication process.
Common causes
- pairing lost after update or reset
- battery or power instability during startup
- antenna or communication hardware fault after impact
- controller issue rather than aircraft issue
- internal board damage or moisture-related fault
Simple checks you can try
- confirm both the aircraft and controller are charged
- try the normal DJI linking process again if the drone powers on normally
- test a second battery if one is available
- think about whether the connection issue started after impact, storage, or update trouble
When repair is required
Repair is usually required when the aircraft will not maintain communication, the issue persists after normal linking steps, or the problem began after a crash or water exposure. Communication faults can point to internal damage rather than a simple setup error.
