When a DJI drone will not start, the fault can come from several different places: the battery, the power button sequence, internal crash damage, a charging issue, or a deeper board-level problem. The important thing is not to force repeated startup attempts if the drone is behaving unusually.
Problem explanation
Some drones do not power on at all. Others light up briefly and then shut down, fail to initialise properly, or start without completing the normal boot sequence. Those symptoms can look similar from the outside even when the underlying cause is very different.
Common causes
- battery not charged or not being recognised
- damaged battery contacts or power path
- internal damage after a crash or hard landing
- moisture exposure or corrosion
- power button or mainboard fault
Simple checks you can try
- confirm the battery is charging and showing normal indicators
- try the correct DJI power-on sequence rather than a single press
- test a second battery if you have one available
- inspect the battery bay and contacts for dirt, heat marks, or physical damage
- consider whether the problem began after impact, storage, or water exposure
When repair is required
Repair or diagnostics are usually required when the drone will not respond with multiple batteries, powers on briefly and shuts down, or shows signs of impact or moisture. A no-start issue after a crash can also mean hidden damage to the power system or internal boards.
